Why not all of us are usually drawn to the exotic? Some feel extremely attracted to anything strikingly unique while others feel agitated when they see something unknown, even if it is really beautiful. I think our willingness to engage with the exotic depends on how open we are to new experiences. On whether we like experimenting.
I know that I have always been attracted to anything out of ordinary. In fact, one of the first posts on this blog a year ago was about the magnificent Orchid Show at Kew Gardens in London. This March, the Orchid Show is again full of exotic creatures: from some carnivorous, alien-looking plants to chameleons, butterflies, and yes, orchids. These high-maintenance flowers attract visitors from all backgrounds and ages who come here for a little wander, to enjoy the warmth, beauty, and the riot of colour, warmth.
It is a lovely sunny Saturday in London. If you have an hour or two to spare, treat yourself and your family to the Orchid Show today. Oh, and don’t forget your camera!
