Paris: French charms

You know what? Paris is always a good idea. Elegant, enchanted, exquisite city with so much charisma and joy that it never fails to uplift your spirits and soothe your soul. It offers anything you might ever need to feel alive: amazing style, beautiful architecture, gardens and wines, and, of course, fabulous food. Did I mention food? Snails in garlicky butter sauce, fresh lobsters and chilli pasta, king prawns and salsa. Inspired by the rest of the world but always presented with a certain French flair — with endless pouring and savouring, champagne on tap and strawberries on demand. We started the second day of my birthday celebrations (really milking it here) in our Marais district with crepes and café noisette, and followed it with a leisurely stroll around the flower market by the Seine and through Le Jardin du Luxembourg, teeming with Parisians soaking up the sun, playing boules, and drinking coffee. The flowers, the fountains, and the beautiful alleys simply took our breath away! As it kept getting closer to my actual birthday, we put on our best frocks and went out to dine at La Société – a super chic and trendy restaurant in Saint-Germain-des-Prés that offers a wonderful selection of wines and fresh seafood. Fabulous, romantic, and with the sexiest menu I’d ever seen. I wouldn’t have known about this exquisite place, was it not for a Parisian friend of mine who was away that day and couldn’t join us but booked us a table and sent us a bottle of champagne instead. He even left me a lovely birthday card – nothing beats the hypnotic charm of a Frenchman, don’t you think?
