For the past three years, come Christmas-time, the sun gypsy in me suddenly awakens and starts staring longingly towards warmer pastures. If you grew up in the Northern Hemisphere, there is certainly something surreal to spending your holiday in the sun with a glass of white wine: a delightful feeling of naughtiness by doing something unusual, the giddiness of non-conformity, the smugness of a rebel. Christmas 2012 was spent in beautifully glitzy Dubai but it was pre-blogging times. So, sadly, I cannot throw a link at you about Dubai but you can see our adventures in Barbados during Christmas 2013 here, here, and here. Once you’ve had your fill of that, come back and dig into my Christmas 2014 because I think it was the winner! On the beautiful island of Phuket (Thailand), at Nikki Beach Club, with champagne for breakfast, foie gras sushi and roast turkey for lunch, and a fire show for dinner! If going through the pictures below leaves you with an impression that I basically spent the day hopping from one white bed to another, you will have a pretty good idea of the entire celebration! I was even lucky enough to round the day up with an hour-long Thai massage on the beach which was incredibly balancing and blissful but a bit painful at times – as it should be! Три года назад у меня возникла идея не справлять Рождество в дождливом, холодном Лондоне, а сбегать в теплые страны, подальше от толпы, шума и зашкаливающего уровня стресса. Кроме того, если вы выросли не в Австралии и прочих странах южнее от экватора, отмечая декабрьские праздники в солнечных местах, в летней одежде и с бокалом холодного вина, можно почувствовать себя настоящим бунтарем (или же бунтаркой): пока все мерзнут и бегают с авоськами, вы сидите на пляже, общаетесь по Скайпу с родными и наслаждаетесь солнцем. В 2012 году мы отмечали праздники в Дубае, но, к сожалению, это было в преблоговские времена, и я не могу кинуть в вас ссылкой, но если интересно, в позапрошлом, 2013 году, мое Рождество прошло на Барбадосе, и ссылок у меня целых три: тут, тут и тут. И как следует из фотографий ниже, Рождество 2014 года мы справили на острове Пхукет в Таиланде – в пляжном комплексе Nikki Beach Club, уставленном огромными белыми кроватями, с живой музыкой, шведским столом и красивейшим закатом.
