I have spent half of my life wondering whether fashion is an art form or a highly commercialised industry. If art is an expression of someone’s creativity that aims to evoke a feeling in the beholder, then fashion definitely has an ability to provoke in us either desire or anger, love or hatred. At times, fashion is highly emotional and even bonkers but it never fails to provide an exceptional entertainment value. Do we select our outfits to match our mood or do we use them to hide our innermost emotions? In the darkest state of their minds, some tend to wear most sesquipedalian clothing, full of colour, glitter, and extravagance, yet in creations of many designers, we often see a desperate need to hide the darkness of an injured mind, sharp pain, and extreme loneliness. Perhaps that is what it is – just like any piece of art, fashionable creations are subject to different interpretations: certain patterns stir painful emotions, we all have colours that remind us of beautiful moments. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and fashion, like any art form, is always subjective. This year, I was lucky to attend the DAKS AW15 show and in this collection, I felt I could just wear everything off the catwalk – this predominantly red, black, and white collection in an exquisite combination of textures such as leather, wool, silk has a capacity to provide both tactile and visual contact to those attuned to feeling with their eyes and fingertips. I inserted a few pictures of the show below – I had to get them off the Internet because the lighting in the room was not conducive to picture-taking but to balance it out, there are also a few professional pictures of my friend Sarah and I after the show. The rest of the pictures are from the Royal Fashion Day at the Middle Temple Hall… where I enjoyed wearing my Press badge and met a woman who was carrying a kitten on her shoulder and claiming that it was part of her outfit. But this did not surprise me one bit – earlier in the day, at Somerset House, I’d already seen a man whose job it is to hold people’s dogs outside shows in a little red leather handbag. Did I not say fashion is bonkers sometimes?

Неделя моды в Лондоне 2015 – это, прежде всего, яркое зрелище и своеобразный конкурс экстравагантности, в котором соревнуются не только дизайнеры, но и сами жители города. Показы модных коллекций проходят в Сомерсет-хаусе, куда в течение пяти дней стекаются студенты дизайнерских школ, модные блогеры, журналисты гламурных изданий и все причастные к индустрии. Лондонская неделя моды – самая демократичная, потому что на ней позволяется выставлять свои коллекции не только известным брендам, но и начинающим модельерам. В этом году мне с подругой Сарой довелось побывать на показе британской марки DAKS и на нескольких мероприятиях для местных дизайнеров, в числе которых – Королевский день моды в Мидл-темпл-холле. Итак, что же мы будем носить осенью-зимой 2015 года? Конечно же, хэллоу 70-е! Брюки-клеш, жилеты, цветастые платья, высокие сапоги и плотные водолазки. Из тканей – шифон, крепдешин, кожа, но с привнесением элементов изысканности, вроде благородного бархата и нежного кашемира. Брючные костюмы прямого кроя или трикотажные платья – выбор за вами. Главное, сохранять эклектичность и умение иронизировать над собой, а остальное добавит ваша фантазия. Ну, и не забудьте заглянуть в гардероб вашей мамы – я точно знаю, что у моей еще сохранились некоторые очень очаровательные платья, которые, надеюсь, мне придутся впору. Мам, ты же не против?
