Like a fine Burgundy wine, we become better with age. I often think what I would teach my children (if I eventually have any), and one of those things would be that they don’t need to be afraid of getting older. With age, our emotions get more intense, our joys more real, our gratitude more magnanimous. We learn to love and forgive, to pick and choose our battles. There is nothing more rewarding than looking back at your lifetime achievements and realising that your priorities might have changed over the past decade or so, and now amongst your accomplishments, you consider not climbing up a property ladder or getting a certain promotion but instead, all the people you loved, all the friends you made, and all the lessons you learnt. Hopefully, you have become more self-assured and less introspective, more independent and less idealistic. You couldn’t pay me enough to be 24 again: insecure about my future, striving to please everyone, and having no idea what I want to do with my life. Anyway, believe it or not but this was supposed to be a fashion post but as I was looking through the pictures shot by my uber-talented friend and colleague Dorota (check out her website: http://dorotapawlak.com/), I started thinking of why I like the colour burgundy so much. I think it is because for me, it symbolises ultimate womanhood, confidence, and an ability to love. Truly and deeply.

Говорят, возраст не имеет значения, и мы все способны с годами становиться лучше. Более уверенными в себе, интересными, любящими и понимающими. С возрастом у нас становится больше друзей, мы учимся ценить отношения и чувства. Мне кажется, главное для человека – не потерять интерес к жизни и ко всему окружающему. Люди, искусство, литература, музыка – мир полон удовольствий, радости, красивых чувств и интересных людей. Важно разработать в себе умение забывать о себе и не погружаться постоянно лишь в собственные ощущения, а замечать красоту даже в мелочах и радоваться каждому дню. Развиваться самим, вдохновлять окружающих, двигаться вперед – навстречу радостям, чувствам и солнцу. Как говорил французский актер Филипп Бувар, люди подобны вину – если с годами они становятся лучше, значит, они очень высокого качества. Добавлю лишь, что многие люди подобны бургундскому вину: насыщенные, глубокие и безумно увлекательные.
