With its unforgettable Sex and The City series, New York may have pioneered fashionable and slightly alcohol-infused social occasions but over the years, London has certainly rendered its own style to the matter. Imagine just for a minute that Sex and the City is set in Big Smoke, not Big Apple, and not in the early noughties but in 2015 instead. What do you think it would look like? Well, I am hoping it would be pretty much like our last Sunday when we celebrated the birthday of a dear friend with champagne afternoon tea at St James Club in Mayfair: breathtakingly fashionable (with Prada, Saint Laurent, Frey Wille, and McQueen featuring prominently), rib-achingly funny, and incredibly diverse with up to five different ethnicities mingling and socialising in the tea lounge at one time. Understandably, rose champagne was present in abundance but I guess modern day Carries, Charlottes, Samanthas, and Mirandas tend to have a more responsible attitude to alcohol and prefer just to pose with their glasses instead – such is the luck but I had an interpreting assignment in the morning and could not drink a drop but don’t you think that glass of bubbly complements our photo smiles perfectly? So, I’d say, Sex and the City London-style is still dominated by ambitious, self-aware, and fun women (and a man!) with conversations predictably hovering around careers and relationships, and just like the magnificent four in New York a decade ago, women these days and across the ocean still place a great value on friendships, have an immense drive, and do everything in style.

Многие, наверное, помнят знаменитый сериал «Секс в большом городе», четыре героини которого, жительницы Нью-Йорка, на протяжении нескольких лет обсуждали за бокалом коктейля «Космополитан» важные вопросы, касающиеся карьеры и личной жизни. Сериал настолько полюбился зрителям из разных стран и разных поколений, что даже спустя десятилетие мы постоянно его упоминаем и растаскиваем на цитаты. А если представить на минуту, что «Секс в большом городе» снимался не в Нью-Йорке, а в Лондоне, и не в начале века, а в наши дни? Хотелось бы надеяться, что все выглядело бы так, как наш воскресный полдень на прошлой неделе, когда мы собрались отметить день рождения любимой подруги за бокалом шампанского и с пирожными. Клуб «Сент-Джеймс» находится в фешенебельном районе Мейфер и славится своей Мишленовской звездой. Итак, предлагаю наш фотоотчет: четыре модницы и один модник, шумное веселье, разговоры наперебой (серьезные и не очень), широкий выбор чая и бескорковых бутербродов в настоящем английском стиле – думаю, нью-йоркские Кэрри, Шарлотта, Саманта и Миранда могли бы нами гордиться!
