You might not know it yet but I have an amazing friend in Vienna. She is incredibly fabulous and smart (and has a doctorate to prove it!), has a great personality, and shares my love of London and travel. Every time my Dr Friend comes to London, we get into all sorts of trouble, the latest being us going out to a vintage party at the Candlelight Club and ending up in the second series of Hair, a BBC Two competition-style show. If you want, you still have 8 more days to watch it on BBC iPlayer (Episode 2).
That fun event aside, last weekend it was my turn to visit Dr Friend in Vienna. I’ve never been to Austria, it is rather cold in London lately, and I missed some warm company so a quick weekend escape seemed just the ticket! On our first day together, my Dr Friend took me to Schönbrunn Palace — a former imperial summer residence for Habsburg monarchs.
We walked through the 32 sculptures lining the Great Parterre of the palace gardens,
around the Fountain,
and up to the Gloriette on top of a 60-metre high hill, where we found glorious views, cold spritzers, and a generous bowl of Kaiserschmann (brown omelette) with plum sauce.
Just look at these views!
Considering it was nearly +30’C, we decided not to go inside the Palace and instead, opted for some colourful ice-cream and ice-coffee in town.
Before making our way home along the Danube…
for a quick snooze, naturally, before hitting the town on Saturday night!
A few outfit details because I know you will ask, cheeky!
