Stockholm: white dress and black grave

A stranger is travelling through a new town and walks into a cemetery. Wandering among graves, he notices a bizarre pattern: one grave says 1982-1988, the other — 2001-2004, third — 2005-2007. It appears that people in this town live only 6, 3, 2 years. Some lived only 1 year, others maybe 10. Bewildered, he approaches a lady who is tidying up around the graves. “Why, he says, people in your town die in infancy?”

“They don’t,” she answers. “It’s just we only count those days that the person was truly happy.”
