When I was little, Astrid Lindgren was my favourite author. She wrote about childhood mischief, life full of wonder, magical people and things, and, of course, Stockholm. Pippi Longstocking, Emil in Lonneberga, Brothers Lionheart, Mardie, and Karlsson-on-the-Roof! Remember Karlsson? A handsome, really confident, and slightly plump man who lived on the roof of a very ordinary apartment building in Stockholm. Every time he pushed a little button on his stomach, it would start a propeller on his back allowing him to fly!
To start his propeller, he obviously needed sweets, and lots of them. Raspberry jam, honey, toffee — you name it! Karlsson was amazing, even if a little mischievous, and he would always get his friend Lillebror into trouble.
